![]() SWRT's fresh driver Chris Atkinson visited a race track "Mont Tremblant" located in the suburbs of Montreal, Canada following an invitation of SUBARU CANADA(SCI), SUBARU distributor in the country. The visit was organized for a promotional activity of new IMPREZA road car launched recently and to perform a demonstration run on the track for Canadian media and press. Atkinson flew to Montreal directly after he finished the 10th round of WRC in Finland and visited SCI on August 17th, Wednesday. Mori Hiroshi, Project General Manager responsible for the new IMPREZA Development at Fuji Heavy Industries was also in the party. Mori PGM made a presentation to explain the relation between evolution of new IMPREZA and WRC activities to the 29 journalists presented. The party moved to Mont Tremblant circuit next day, August 18th. The journalists drove the car one by one after they looked it carefully and took photos. After lunch, the time came when Atkinson to be presented. The Mont Tremblant is a technical course of which distance is 4.6km and two Formula One Canadian Grand Prix events were held on the venerable track in 1968 and 1970. The demonstration run was performed on a part of the circuit commonly known as "North Loop"(2.6km). The dynamic short-cutting course has a combination of a straight and high-speed corner which is ideal to demonstrate sporty performance of new IMPREZA.
The journalists shouted with pleasure for Atkinson's "Performance Demonstration". Atkinson performed doughnuts consecutively and spun just next to a stopping car as if he answered the encouragement. Those journalists who experienced high speed of "Hot Lap" next to Atkinson on the North Loop could not conceal their excitement and commented "The best! Most impressive!" After the press meeting of the day, all the journalists praised it highly saying that "That was an excellent driving day. The choice of such high-speed course was a proof of SUBARU's confidence to their product. This venue is the best among the circuits located in North America" , " It was a wonderful experience to see Chris's performance. He showed us a full potential of the car's original performance." Chris Atkinson said "I am very happy that the staff of SCI and also the journalists satisfied with the meeting. I would like them to keep their eye on my driving at forthcoming rounds of WRC." and left for England where he based for preparation of German round of WRC.
