Subaru has half a dozen victories under its belt on the fast gravel roads of Rally New Zealand, and each victory has been a significant result in the team's history. Here are the potted highlights:

Subaru Legacy 4WD Turbo

The momentous first WRC victory for Subaru, and also the first for young charger Colin McRae. But the team was already looking ahead: on the next rally in Finland, the new Impreza 555 entered competition for the first time.

Although he'd broken his WRC duck, the flying Scotsman had to wait almost an entire year to score his second career win… also in New Zealand.

McRae sealed his Kiwi hat-trick in fine style. He stormed into the lead on the second leg of the rally and was never headed thereafter. The win was another momentous step towards his first world title.

Eriksson had won in Sweden earlier in the year, and backed it up with a convincing performance in New Zealand. It was Subaru's fifth victory in a dominant season in which it ultimately it racked up eight successes.

The 40th World Rally Championship success for Subaru World Rally Team. Petter and Phil had to fight off a determined attack from Peugeot's Marcus Gronholm on the final leg, but took an assured victory by 5.9s.
