SWRT gets an early Christmas present from STI

Letter from SWRT
16 December 2005

Members of the Subaru World Rally Team were delighted to be presented with an early Christmas present from their Japanese colleagues at Subaru Tecnica International (STI). As recognition of their hard work throughout the 2005 season, 60 Subaru World Rally Team event staff and factory-based technicians received a limited edition briefcase from STI. Only 300 cases have been produced and are available from Subaru dealership boutiques in Japan.

The Subaru World Rally Team won three rallies and picked up a further seven podium positions in 2005 to help Petter Solberg to second in the drivers' championship for the second consecutive year. Chris Atkinson achieved his first-ever WRC podium in Japan, while Stéphane Sarrazin equalled his highest World Championship position with fourth in Catalunya.

Subaru manufacturer principal Toshi Azuma said: "The team worked hard to secure second place in the drivers' championship for Petter and maintain our record of finishing in the top two since 1999. At times in the season the odds were against us as we had some very unlucky moments, but everyone pulled together and never gave up. This gift is just a small show of our appreciation of their determination and commitment."

Colin Clark, Subaru World Rally Team Commercial Manager, was one of those lucky enough to receive the exclusive bag. "It was a very generous gift from STI and I know everyone appreciated the gesture. It's a good looking piece of kit and I know the team who travel to the events will also be keen to show them off in airport departure lounges!"
