Where in the world?

Letter from SWRT
12 June 2006

"Last month I was so busy that I only managed to spend nine days at home so I'm looking forward to some time off! I'll have to wait a bit longer though as I'll be competing in the Le Mans 24 hour race on 17 and 18 June.
The day after the end of the race, I'm flying to Liguria, Italy for a four-day tyre test with Pirelli. It's not too difficult for me to switch between an endurance and a rally car - it just makes you sharper and more determined as you're already switched on.
I'm looking forward to spending a bit more time with my family and my son, he changes so much in just a couple of weeks. When I'm at home I spend the morning working on fitness, particularly cycling, and the afternoons planning for forthcoming tests, rallies and other events.
At the end of July I am testing the Impreza WRC2006 in preparation for Rally Germany. I can't wait to get back in the car."

"After the Acropolis Rally I went away with my family, my brother Henning and some friends to the Greek islands. We've hired an 80-ft yacht with five staff, Jacuzzi and sun decks - not too bad! We're cruising around, stopping in various islands, including Mykonos. I'll try as much as possible to relax and work on fitness to make sure that after the break I can come back fully prepared, both mentally and physically.
After a test next week in the UK I plan to go to Sweden and see Pernilla's family and some of my relatives; perhaps I'll have some time to go fishing or quad biking when I'm there. Of course there will be a lot of work too. I've got a development test at the beginning of July, then pre-event tests for Germany and Japan at the end of July and beginning of August.
I have several PR commitments over the summer. I'm travelling to Japan at the end of this month to attend press conferences, photo shoots and test drive the new Subaru models. I spend a lot of time giving input to the car designers in Japan and driving the final model is always very exciting.
When we come back from the summer we'll be going flat out to score as many points and win again. That will be my focus in the break - to make sure we can achieve these aims."

"I'm travelling to Germany to compete in the Nürburg 24 hour race on 17 and 18 June. It will be my first-ever circuit race and I'm looking forward to it. It's a good opportunity to get more tarmac experience, especially on one of the most demanding circuits in the world. 186 corners in just 25km, that's awesome! After the race I'll fly to Estonia for an event to remember Markko Martin's co-driver Michael Park.
When I get back I'm meeting some Australian friends in London, then going back to Australia until the beginning of August. It's winter over there at the moment, but the Gold Coast where I live will still be warmer than the English summer! I want to catch up with friends and will most probably go jet-skiing and wakeboarding.
I've got to go to New Zealand and I'm trying to see if I can squeeze in some snowboarding when I go. I'm also helping with the launch of tickets for Rally Australia - it will be good to go back home again."
