As a keen wakeboarder and jet-skiier, Chris Atkinson is well used to adrenaline-pumping watersports. However at the beginning of the WRC summer break, the Australian tried out an altogether more relaxing water-based activity: punting.
As he punted along the river Thames in Oxford, Chris was interviewed and filmed by a production crew. A punt is a long, square-ended boat with a flat bottom and is pushed along a river using a five-metre long pole, very similar to gondolas on the Venetian canals. Although it might look pretty easy, the punt 'chauffeurs' must get the right stance, balance and steering technique to propel the boat along the river.
As you can see from the photos, Chris didnft do too badly at all.
