Eifel Dunlop Impreza takes 3rd place and 4th consecutive podiums.

The round 6 of Super Taikyu Series 2002 took place in TI Circuit Aida in Okayama prefecture, where Eifel Dunlop Impreza took another podium on 3rd place.


Qualify
Round 6 thrives with 38 cars to start the weekend. Class 2, which features cars with all-wheel drive cars and above 2001 cc in displacement. Two Imprezas enter this class, where 10 cars consist the most heated contest of all. The Saturday morning started with a rain. However, it had cleared by the afternoon, and by the time it reached the time for the qualify, the temperature rose up to 30°C. Eifel Dunlop Impreza, #2, with drivers Toshihiro Yoshida and Kazuo Shimizu qualified in 4th. "I am very disappointed about the fact that the car was not set up right. For the race, I want to be constant and finish with much points as possible." Was a quote from Shimizu who were in charge of the setting the time.

Gram Lights SweetGDB, car number 57 was to start the race from 6th in the class.


Race
Sunday, on the day with lots of clouds, 33,600 spectators gathered to the circuit. The temperature was 29°C, no much different from the previous day. As the race is only 400 km long, pit work may only be once, but with tight layout of the course, much strain is put on the brakes and transmission.

109 lap race started on 13:23. The starting driver for #2 Impreza was Yoshida, and #57 was Ohashi, and the laps proceeded according to the order of the qualify. However, #57 began to suffer problem on the brakes after lap 10, and returned to pit at lap 57 to change driver to Korekata. Meanwhile one car had gone up in flames due to mechanical problems, and Safety Car was brought in to track to remove the oil off the track. #2 had returned to pit in this opportunity and driver had changed to Shimizu.

When the Lancer, in 3rd place had backed off due to problems, #2 Impreza promoted to 3rd instead. #57 on the other hand, developed a brake problem and went off track on lap 77 at the back straight and retired. #2 had fueling problem and could not bring up its pace. With so much to strive, it still maintained its position and finish the race in 3rd in class. As for the Series points, 20 points behind #11 Lancer who is on the top, but still keeps enough chance to up set the Championship in the remaining two more rounds.
