After a very good performance in the previous round, Anders Grøndal with co-driver Trond Inge Østbye in their SUBARU IMPREZA WRC, were more eager to top the podium than securing a third place in the championship. The 18 year old Mads Østberg with his co-driver Ragnar Engen - lying second in the championship - also had victory in mind in an attempt to claim the title. In order to achieve this, Mads had to win this last rally and the reigning champion Thomas Schie must not finish higher than as number 5 in the final results.
Mads started very well and won the first 3 stages. At the service-break after stage 4, he was leading with Anders as second. After the service, Anders drove really fast on SS5 to take over the lead from Mads. However, on SS6 Anders misjudged a lefthander, went off the road, damaged the suspension severely and was out of the rally.
Mads won this stage and took the lead again, and kept this through the last stages to the finish line with Thomas Schie just a few seconds behind. Mads is the youngest driver ever to win a round in the Norwegian Rally Championship. Thomas Schie took his third consecutive title with young Mads as a runner-up in his first season in a WR-car and just 10 months after acquiring his drivers licence. With the victory of Mads, his co-driver Ragnar Engen took the title as Norwegian Co-Driver champion.
In the N4 class, the reining champion Eivind Steffensen ended the rally in second place, and thereby secured the second place in the championship. Eivind also won the Subaru Rallycup for the fourth time in a row.
