A few days ago the woods outside Olympia, Washington received a tremendous amount of rain, closing many of the logging roads where Wild West Rally organizers planned to run this weekend's race. Road damage and lack of permissions forced organizers to alter the route and format of the rally. Saturday's stages will now be run entirely within the Straddleline ORV park, about 10 miles outside of Olympia. took place at Pacific Raceway in Kent, Washington, nearly 50 miles north of Olympia, just miles from Mount Rainier.

Just a month ago, Travis Pastrana and Christian Edstrom won the Rally America National Championship with a massive points lead at Lake Superior Performance Rally.

After muddy condition through first day,Travis Pastrana and Christian Edstrom stood victorious over their rivals. Patrick Richard and Mark Williams managed 2nd in their SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI with Ken Block and Alex Gelsomino in 3rd position.

On second day, three stages of 3 laps each were run on the 2.25 mile race track consisting of hairpins, switchbacks, fast straights, and elevation changes. SUBARU dominated the start list with nearly half of the entered cars wearing SUBARU badges, creating stiff competition for the others.

Ken Block is very fast on tarmac and pushed hard every lap, beating Pastrana/Edstrom by half a second in Stage 7; however, a mysterious skip limited top speed to around 100 mph. On the final stage of the day, Pastrana & Edstrom held nothing back posting the fastest time of the day.

At day's end, Travis Pastrana and Christian Edstrom took the last available win of the 2006 Rally America season. Patrick Richard and Mark Williams placed 2nd just a tenth of a second ahead of Ken Block and Alex Gelsomino. Subaru also dominated 1-4 potition at overall at this event.

Subaru Rally Team USA thanks all of its dedicated fans and sponsors for a great year. The first rally of 2007 is approaching fast. The Sno*Drift Rally is one of the most exciting of the season, as drivers battle each other on the snowy roads of lower Michigan.

Venue Info
The Wild West Rally is the last event on the 2006 Championship circuit, and tension levels are bound to be high with all of the competitors looking to finish the season off with a win. The setting for the race is Olympia, Washington, which is noted to be one of the country's most beautiful state capitols. Located in the tip of Puget Sound, with the Pacific Northwest Mountains to one side and the Pacific Ocean to the other, Olympia is an exceptional place to visit. However, it is the mountainous course and distracting views that will be holding the competitor s attention as they race towards the finish. With this event happening so late in the season, there is no telling what the unpredictable Pacific Northwest weather will throw at the drivers. The possibility of rain, sleet or even snow will only add to the excitement of this rally. Who will "capitalize" in this capitol city? Check out the Wild West Rally to find out!
