2006 Turkish Rally Championship came to an end with the penaltumate event of the season, 13th round of WRC; Rally of Turkey. The crews had hard times as heavy showers and storm hit Antalya last weekend. The first 2 stages were canceled due to heavy road conditions, but after SS3 everything started to work as planned as 67 crews hit the remaining 17 stages.
As the top three finishing drivers Marcus Gronholm (Ford), Mikko Hirvonen (Ford) and Henning Solberg (Peugeot) had many reasons to celebrate, amongst the Turkish crews Subaru Turkey Rally Team got all the honors. Newly crowned Turkish Champion Ercan Kazaz had only one aim through out the event, focusing on Manufacturers title for SUBARU with his IMPREZA WRC2005. Ercan Kazaz - Serdar Kurbanzade duo finished Rally of Turkey 14th overall and collected valuable points for Manufacturers title as the Best Turkish crew. Subaru Turkey Rally Team finished the event with all its three cars, clinching the 2006 Turkish Rally Manufacturers Title. Ercan Kazaz was more than happy after the event, celebrating the title win with his fans and Atolye Kazaz crew.
"It has been a really hard event for us. It was really important for me to finish my home event with my IMPREZA WRC, infront of my fans. We could be a lot faster but our responsibility for the Manufacturers Title prevented us. We won Best Turkish Group N Crew throphy for the third time in a row with Hasan Ozseyhan, which was a really impressive result for our young gun. Our Group N Champion driver Hakan Dinc had a couple of problems and he had to do Superally. But apart from that all our cars finished in top five which is a fantastic result for the team. I would like to thank everyone who has supported us to compete in our home WRC event."
STRT drivers Hasan Ozseyhan and codriver Fatih Inan won Best Turkish Group N crew throphy on their first event with the SUBARU IMPREZA 2006 and Hakan Dinc finished second in this category.
As the 2006 Turkish Rally Championship came to an end, Subaru Turkey Rally Team put its mark to the season by winning Manufacturers, Drivers and Group N titles.
