64th Rally Poland, the 3rd round of Polish Championships took place in Mikolajki, in the north-east of Poland. Mikolajki is the heart of on eof the most popular holiday spots in Poland. Polish "Lake disctrict" draws thousands of tourists every summer. No wonder so many rally fans arrived to this picturesque place to see the next exciting fight between Polish and other European drivers like Oscar Svedlund, Renato Travaglia or Simon Jean-Joseph.

The rally HQ were located, as last year, in Hotel Golebiewski and the service park was set just a hundred meters from it. The rally started with the super special on Friday evening, June 9th.
The conditions throughout the whole rally were not easy. It was very hot and sunny. The stages were very fast and quite slippery with the thin surface of light gravel revealing bigger stones in some places too.

The real fight started the next day. Unfortunately the day did not start well for our champion Leszek Kuzaj. He rolled his Subaru Impreza and had to retire from a rally. However, another Subaru driver, who took part in Rally Poland in 2005 and 2006 and was always close to victory, Oscar Svedlund, won this stage and gained a leadership in the rally. He was followed by Krzysztof Holowczyc in Subaru Impreza. On SS 5 Holowczyc managed to speed up and became a leader in the rally. He saved his leadership by the end of the day and enlarged his advantage 9.7 seconds over Oscar Svedlund.

The second leg started on Sunday morning, June 10th. The day was as sunny as the previous one with thousands of spectators watching the fight on stages. The leadership still belonged to Krzysztof Holowczyc being followed by Oscar Svedlund. Stage number 13 was very unlucky for the leader of the rally. After a puncture and quite a big time loss he dropped to the second place in general classification. This enabled Oscar Svedlund to move up to the first position in the rally and he enlarged his advantage over Holowczyc to 43.8 sec.

We are now preparing for the next round of Polish Championships which will be held in Krakow and its suburbs on July 13-14, Subaru Poland rally.
