Petter Solberg, the ace driver of 555 Subaru World Rally Team threw a wedding ceremony at his home in Norway. The newly wed wife is Pernilla Walfridsson (Sweden) who had been his fiancée for some time, and the couple has 2-year-old son Oliver between them.
Petter just finished the WRC Rd.9 Rally Finland in 2nd place after fierce battle and overturn in the final stage of final day. He was awarded "Star of the Rally" by Inmarsat; the sponsor of the event.
The wedding was held on the week following Saturday while the excitement was still fresh to everyone's mind.
The ceremony was held at the famous Norwegian ski resort of Golsfjell, and the Gol Church in the foot of the mountain. More than 250 invited guests gathered to celebrate Petter and Pernilla, and among them were Petter's friends and colleagues including David Lapworth, the principal of SWRT, Masaru Katsurada, president of STI and many drivers. It was Petter's idea that the guests should be dressed in their native traditional costumes, so Petter's friend and rival Scotsman Collin McRae was dressed in kilt, while Subaru staff from Japan wore traditional formal kimonos.
At the banquet, a famous Norwegian music producer played the song written specially for Petter and Pernilla, to add gaiety to the party of the Star in the new generation of motor sports.
