Legacy GT300 to Skip the Malaysia Round of SUPER GT

June 14, 2010
R&D SPORT, which runs the Legacy GT300 in SUPER GT has decided not to participate in Round 4 of the series being held on June 19 and 20 at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.

R&D SPORT's Team Director Shinji Motojima explained why. "When we took part in the joint test held in Suzuka in May, we clearly saw effects of the modifications made to the front sections of the car after the second round at Fuji Speedway, and discovered that the car would be able to perform better than we expected. So, we have decided to make further modifications to improve the maneuverability of the car in one go. We'd love to run the car in Sepang, but if we don't take time now to make major modifications, it will be difficult to build more speed by the second half of the season. In order to update the rear section including switching to a transaxle and to revise the aerodynamics, the car has been stripped down to the monocoque shell. While rivals are fighting in Sepang, we will be working hard every day to finish the car. So please just wait until you see the results of our work in Round 5 at SUGO."

The modified Legacy GT300 is expected to have a shakedown by the end of June to get ready for Round 5 held at Sportsland SUGO on July 24 and 25.
