Finland's Jari-Matti Latvala has taken his second PCWRC win in a row after beating all-comers in New Zealand on the final round of the 2006 Production Car World Rally Championship. Meanwhile, Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah has become the first Production Car world rally champion from the Middle East, a momentous achievement for the soft-spoken Qatari.

For SUBARU, it was a hugely-rewarding rally, the first four places in Group N going to the Japanese manufacturer. Behind Latvala, Kiwi driver Richard Mason secured second place on the last of the morning group of tests, with newcomer Alexander Dorosinskiy leaping two places on the final stage to take a podium on his first-ever world championship event. Japanese rookie Takuma Kamada was fourth.
